Marmara Cold Store and Food Logistics

The cold store under construction in Kocaeli consists of 32,000 square metres of insulated panel area, three temperature zones (-25 °C, 0 – 4 °C and +12 °C) and a load-bearing structure suited to an automated rack storage system up to 18 metres high.

In frozen food stores, sub-floor freezing (frost heave) is the most critical issue. A heated glycol pipe system and 25 cm of insulation were therefore placed under the floor. Special details were applied so that the steel structure does not create cold bridges.

Progress

The project is at 46%; the floor and steel frame are complete, and panel cladding and refrigeration system installation continue. The first section will be handed to the employer in early 2027.

Quality and OHS

Weekly progress reports, monthly payment certificate files and accredited laboratory test results were shared with the employer on the project. An OHS specialist worked on site full time, and daily risk assessment and pre-shift safety briefings were applied.
