Çukurova Link Road and Interchange

The 11.6-kilometre dual carriageway connecting Adana's industrial zone to the motorway, with two interchanges and four underpasses, opened in 2022. The biggest challenge was building without interrupting traffic on a route carrying 42,000 vehicles a day.

Construction was therefore carried out with night shifts and staged diversion plans. Bridge girders were produced precast in the factory and erected at night; total road closure was limited to 19 nights.

Technical data

A total of 168,000 m³ of concrete and 14,500 tonnes of reinforcement were used, and 310,000 tonnes of hot asphalt were laid. Storm water drainage was sized for a 100-year return period rainfall.

Quality and OHS

Weekly progress reports, monthly payment certificate files and accredited laboratory test results were shared with the employer on the project. An OHS specialist worked on site full time, and daily risk assessment and pre-shift safety briefings were applied.
