Completed (2021)A 48,000 m² steel-structure factory with crane beams, in 9 months.
The main hall of the steel production plant established in Gaziantep is 48,000 square metres and was built with a column-beam system suited to 40-tonne overhead cranes. 4,800 tonnes of steel members produced in Sarpkaya Contracting's steel workshop were erected on site in 9 months.
The project ran in parallel with the employer's production line installation; the first 12,000 m² for line assembly was handed over 5 months after contract. This staged handover let the employer start production 3 months earlier than planned.
Technical features
The floor slab is 25 cm thick, steel-fibre reinforced, vacuum-dewatered with hardener topping. For fire safety the steel members are protected with a paint system giving 60 minutes of resistance.
Quality and OHS
Weekly progress reports, monthly payment certificate files and accredited laboratory test results were shared with the employer on the project. An OHS specialist worked on site full time, and daily risk assessment and pre-shift safety briefings were applied.
